Discussing the Diaspora as seen through an internal Black lens

I told y’all at the time they (A&E) were just laying low, trying to rehabilitate Dog’s image; and waiting for this to blow over so they could just bring the show back. They’re not going to take a prinicipled stand. In the end, dude simply got a vacation.

He’ll make all the same money, he’ll just be making it a few months later. But I must confess, I didn’t do my due diligents, as I noted at the time we need to get all over the advertisers to make sure this didn’t happen.
Well it’s not too late. Actually, it’s never too late when it comes to cancelling t.v. shows; they can be dropped at any moment.
“They should pull the show completely and never air reruns or anything with Chapman ever again,” SiCap president Wayne Perry says in a press release. “A&E should wash their hands of this guy. Dog’s rant has personally disrupted my faith in people, and we will never associate any of our brands with any forum that supports racism in any way.”
Does anyone know how to find out who the show’s advertisers are. I guess I could peruse the website.
Dog just got tossed a bone.
After being yanked by A&E last year following a racial rant by its titular star, Dog the Bounty Hunter is coming back to the cable net this summer.
“It’s not about ratings,” A&E spokesman Michael Feeney said. “We know his heart. We know him and know he’s not a racist.”
Flanked by members of his family and a representative from a civil rights group, Duane “Dog” Chapman turned up at a press conference in his native Honolulu Wednesday to announce his return and once again express remorse for using language that nearly torpedoed his tube career.
“There was one perfect person, and they called him Jesus Christ,” he said. You have to…realize that everyone is human, and you can err.”
Chapman, 55, issued a public mea culpa last November after son Tucker leaked a private telephone call in which the elder Chapman repeatedly uttered the N-word in reference to the younger’s African-American girlfriend.
The resulting flap forced A&E to shelve its flagship series, one of the highest-rated shows on cable, routinely drawing 2 million viewers per first-run episode.
Production on the fifth season is now under way. Reruns of Dog the Bounty Hunter are expected to begin airing June 25, followed by all-new episodes a few weeks later.

Are they thinking people forgot?
I’m not sure who actually watches the show. However, the advertisers are catering to the shows demographic that may not actually be Black/Non-White/African-American. Perhaps that is the excuse the advertisers are using.
One way in which being a mutli-national or large corporation cuts both ways is that even though a specific product might be aimed at a niche group; it’s likely that the same company has other products that we buy. So that would still make the vulnerable.
Well just have to get that advertiser list and see. We may need to target just a few advertisers, and if we can knock off a few, that might be enough to keep the show from being profitable for A&E.
I actually blogged about this about a month ago. They have been working on bringing the show back since about January. The bottom line is that he makes money for them and they will forgive him anything. If you have watched even five minutes of his show, his paternalistic attitude towards Polynesians makes it clear that he is a racist of the first class. He just got caught being overt this time.
Yeah I agree that they don’t care about anything but him making money for them; that’s why we have to go after their money; the advertisers.
