After Ohio and Texas Defeat, Obama May Be Ready To Fight

March 6th, 2008

This is a follow up to the last piece about “Obama Plays Patty Cakes While Clinton Punches Him In The Face”

The Obama approach of thinking he can just walk around with his head in the clouds and not engage Clinton, not respond to attacks, respond soft spoken-ly and timidly on the few occasions when he does respond, and allow her to fly free with minimal critique of her claims and action has had a growing effect.

Sure, by one angle Tuesday wasn’t so great for Clinton because she’ll only net 4 or 5 delegates out of the day; but that really doesn’t matter since this thing isn’t going to be decided by pledged delegates (those are delegates decide by the voters, as opposed to superdelegates) . He didn’t deliver the knock out punch he had the opportunity bring, and left things in the hands of the arbitrary party bosses. This with two huge states likely to be added back to the primaries that favor Hillary Clinton - revotes in Florida and Michigan.

It all reminds me of an episode of Good Times. This young, articulate, astute brother was running against the incumbent; that baldheaded old Black huckster, for city council (I forget his name, the one that always calls Willona by the wrong name).

Anyways, both were at the Evan’s apartment and the young dude refused to play the dozens no matter how much the incumbent old dude snapped on him on with James and J.J.’s help. Even with Florida and Willona egging him on, and snapping back in his defense, he still wouldn’t play along.

Eventually the young kat loses the race. James at that point finally listens to his positions, and decides maybe he should have given him more of chance. The young kat realizes, you have to reach the people on a personal level before they’ll hear what you have to say, and you can’t let attacks go unabated; and resolves to run his campaign differently next time.

The point is that the problem is that alot of people can’t hear your good ideals when they can’t see past what a wimp you are (perception is reality, doesn’t matter if you’re not really a wimp).

Why do you think Dennis Kucinich goes nowhere even in the Democratic Party, when he espouses the positions that most Democrats say they’re for? Because he looks like a p-ssy before he opens his mouth, and then he sounds like a p-ssy when he does open his mouth.

It seems that Obama finally agrees with me that he needs
to step it up: news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080305/ap_on_el_pr/obama

Now he said the stuff contained in the article, but he still said it timidly (I’m going by having watched the video on the news last night). At least he finally realizes he needs to stop standing on the sideline and get into his own fight; though he was still soft stepping in doing it. If he stops soft stepping and learns to be assertive and direct, then he can finish this menace off.

I dread the net few months but I would like to see Obama prove them wrong on Pennsylvania.

In the end if he gets the popular vote and loses the nomination there will be hell to pay, they will have to redo Florida and Michigan there will be no other way. If she gets it by popular vote I could consider voting for her if not there is no way I could do it. I think it looks very dangerous for the democrats out there. NAFTA hurt him more than anything Hilary could have done but a friend of mine wrote something on his blog I feel is true..she won’t win if nominated - I think she won’t win if nominated wrongly - otherwise she has a chance, but he said the democrats have a map to the white house in Obama, they just can’t seem to read it

I can’t vote for her no matter what. She went to far with the race-baiting.

There’s breaking news that it was actually the Clinton camp and not the Obama camp that told Canadians that NAFTA talk was posturing. But it’s all muddled: \

It is wrong to say she can’t win the general, all kinds of things can happen (there are enough skeletons in McCains closet to bring about a scandal to further suppress republican voters). It is true that it is very unlikely when you’re starting off with almost 50% of the people not willing to even consider you. She has no room to grow. All she can do is decrease her opponent.

You have to be a real dog to win in a cat fight!

It seems that Strobe Talbott, who was a Clinton team memeber was passing info to the russians, The name of the book is called Comrade J. The O Man has to show his teeth and attack back he has to Swift Boat her.He neds to lift up the corner of that rug and expose all that dirt that has been swept under it.White water, Roes law Firm, all he has to do is mention a couple of things the people will be reminded. He needs to talk to that woman who the private eyes were following around for Hillary.

  5. D. Yobachi Boswell on March 7th, 2008 2:29 pm | link

No he doesn’t need to swiftboat her, but he needs to stop being timid, respond strongly, point out political deficiencies and deficiencies in her claims, and stop being timid.

Swiftboating involves lying or extremely distorting a claim to the point of misleading. If he does that he loses his positional edge as a new/different/better politician.

He just needs to stop being a soft-stepping punching bag

What’s up with Power’s resignation? Power’s remarks were gentle compared with the nastiness instigated by the Clinton camp.

  7. D. Yobachi Boswell on March 8th, 2008 12:54 am | link

I heard she resigned at first, now just a minute ago this talking head on Hardball said she was fired.

I wouldn’t have fired her or let her resign. Saying she’s a monster is a rather innocuous personal characterization. It doesn’t trample on any political sacred cows like criticizing her for her gender or something like that. I mean who was really offended be sides the Hillary herself; his constituent of monster voters?

Obama’s acting like a real punk to me, and it doesn’t matter what his worshipers say, if a significant part of the democratic electorate thinks he’s a punk, he’s in trouble.

  8. EuroYank on March 8th, 2008 1:22 am | link

Only the educated people think he is a punk. He will win easily!

“Only the educated people think he is a punk. He will win easily!”

Wishful thinking doesn’t make reality EuroYank.

This isn’t a beauty contest, for crying out loud. If that were so, Hillary wouldn’t have even got out of the gate. This is a f**king war. Somebody better tell Barack and his staff.
OG should be on Barack’s staff.
So, he (Barack) can either play nice or not. If not, then McCain will be our next president.
    Chew on that.
P.S. I’m educated and don’t think Barack is a punk. Am I missing something?

  11. D. Yobachi Boswell on March 8th, 2008 6:35 pm | link

MorganLighter, I don’t know what EuroYank was talking about there, the more educated are Barack’s biggest supporters. He didn’t lose Ohio because a bunch of educated people thought he was weak and didn’t vote for him.

Sorry I’m late with this but I too am seeing him as being timid…he’s going to have to man up to win this thing. It’s a delicate balance he’ll have to take as to not be viewed as the “angry black man attacking the poor white woman”, but it can be done. If he continues on his current course, he can forget it. I for one want a president that is competent and thoughtful but I also want one that knows when to land a solid punch and knock the enemy on their arse.

  13. D. Yobachi Boswell on March 10th, 2008 4:06 pm | link

Aj, I totally agree with your last sentence.

And I don’t think he’s in danger of looking like the “angry black guy” as long as he’s not nasty, which he doesn’t need to be to take a strong stand. He just needs to stop being soft, and have some conviction in his voice when he refutes Clinton’s claims, or points out things about her; instead of ummm ummming and himmming and haaing all the time.

Going back to my last post comment, an example would be when he said “it’s not a choice between action and speeches; but between the same old politics that didn’t work in Iowa, and didn’t work in Wisconsin, and won’t work in Texas”. He actually got a little indignet and said it with some conviction. That was good. Now start doing it on a daily basis damnit.
