Announcing Proud Black Voter Blog

January 14th, 2008

Too many people suffered so we would have the right to participate in our democracy; yet many Black folks simply choose not to vote.

To this end the Afrospear Action Coalition brings you the Proud Black Voter blog

The press release in part reads

It is important that all who are eligible vote. Many of the most pertinent issues on the national agenda have a disproportionate effect on the Black community at large; yet voter turnout for Blacks continues to lag behind .

With those factors in mind, the Afroshpere Action Coalition has initiated a “Proud to be a Black Voter” movement; and created the “Proud Black Voter” blog proudblackvoter.blogspot.com/) to encourage other Blacks to vote. The “Proud Black Voter” blog will inform the public about the importance of the need to vote, and will help to facilitate people in getting registered. We want to encourage greater voter registration and election participation within the Black community nationwide.

Other bloggers and websites are encouraged to participate by prominently displaying 1 of 6 “Proud Black Voter” buttons on their webpage; which they can obtain from the “Get Your Badge” page

This is a nonpartisian effort. We’re not endorsing candidates nor taking a point of view beyond the one that Black America needs to vote.

This ideal was conceived of by MrsGrapevine and is also being sponsored by Electronic Village and BlackPerspective.net

We are looking for other black writers or bloggers to provide post content n voter information, voting rights history, or words of encouragement extolling the need to vote.

You can email any of the 3 of us with your post. My email is lionrunner777@yahoo.com
