Black Kids Kicked Out Pool Because of Race

This took place in Philadelphia, proving once again that American racism is hardly the sole property of the South; as some, both black and white, like to pretend it to be.

60 young campers (mostly black) from the Creative Steps Day Camp were kicked out of a private pool club because members didn’t want their children swimming with black children. The Valley Club revoked the day camper’s membership after finding out they were minorities and offered a refund. Here is an eye witness account:
When the minority children got in the pool all of the Caucasian children immediately exited the pool,” Horace Gibson, parent of a day camp child, wrote in an email. “The pool attendants came and told the black children that they did not allow minorities in the club and needed the children to leave immediately. People have a right to be racist, and you have a right to assemble and not assemble with whomever you want; but such blatant and unabashed racism at this stage in the game is something else.

I haven’t been here in a minute because I have selfishly been growing my blog.
This is crazy, and I don’t know what we can do, but we need to bring shame via media to this pool club. It’s one thing to go after adults, but it’s another thing to place that type of reality on young children.
Ha, no problem. It’s my blog and I haven’t been here that much lately :p

Anyway, we could encourage a mass email campaign of our readers. Also, I could take your email, and formulate it into more of press release (You’ve got the meet of it. I just would add a couple things, and format it); and we could send it out to media outlets so maybe more of them might pick it up.
look what happens to white people when minorities out number them,hate crimes the jewish news media would never cover.kids,just like the holloween white girls got by a bunch of wild and protected minorities,_blacks who do nothing more then distroy any happyness a white person wants to have.liberals are the cause of this in washingto d.c.(the true gangsters.
Wow Gene; did Blacks destroy your grammar and spelling. As much as I’m a typo and homonym screw up; youe simply don’t know the English language. So because you’re bitter about your ignorant state in life you try and scapegoat Blacks.
You’re projecting yourself loathing on to us to try and make yourself feel better. All I’m going to say is God bless your heart.
All kinds of kids get into fights at pools and everywhere else. When I got in beefs with white kids growing up and they hit me first; I didn’t call it a hate crime, I just whooped that ass.
Well this is bull to do that to these kids! The only thing that saves the Club is that it is a PRIVATE CLUB so that gives them the right to do and decide who they can refuse service to and what rules they have as the club is not open to the public. I have a feeling they would have even refused the Irish Catholic charity summer camp kids.I wonder if this was just about race or if these people are just SNOBS!!
So KimNorth and Gene are trying to rationalize a return to the days before the civil rights movement ? The black children who had overheard the racist club members must not count to KimNorth in his excuse making that the members are “just snobs.” I remember hearing that same excuse from Thomas Jefferson’s descendent as to why they would refuse Sally Hemmings descendents being accepted as a part of the Monticello family. The more things change , the more they stay the same.
Please come down from that hoarse SheaJustice, I’m just stating what I have seen over and over from these types regardless of color. The more things change the more folks like you digg in their heels. I have decided (for myself) not to cry Racist every time I’m done wrong. There are more and more people of color that would gladly kick those crutches out from under you. We do more harm than good crying racist then we would if we took a stand as brothers and sisters (people as a whole) together. Why do you want to keep us segregated? Why play their game?
I think this is just an outrage. The bad thing about it is that these people had no respect for these children at all and made them feel less then equal. And they say racism is dead. HA! could have fooled me. Tyler Perry will sending these children to Disney World where they will be treated with respect and dignity. And they can have fun and NOT worry about the color of their skin.
I agree with bouncil that what happened to these black children may likely have made them feel less equal. As we evolve in our nation toward more acceptance of each other as equal, I would hope that in the future, such types of actions will be a thing of the past, and not raise any questions about what the motivation (s) for them may be. I am a strong supporter of interracial understanding, being biracial, mainly black myself.
