Some Friends and collegues of mine won 2007 Black Weblog Awards
From the Weblog Awards: After 7,000+ nominations and 1800+ votes for our 91 finalists, here
are the winners of the .
Unique to this year was the addition of our panel of ten judges,
authorities in the fields of blogging, design, the Internet and good
writing. Each category has two winners: a popular vote (the ones which
you, the users, casted your ballots for) and the judges’ vote (the top
ranked picks from our judges).
Winners are listed after the break.
Congradulations to my folk:
My longtime net-friend going back about 3 years to social networking; and designer of this here website, Nicole (or Tuluum as is her net handle) won the Judges’ Vote for Best Food Blog @ TriniGourmet.com
I don’t know the Nerd With Swag, Chennye, well at all, but he’s on mybloglog friends list, and he won the popular vote for Best Science/Technology Blog
Some of my fellow Afrospear Bloggers won:
One of my very first blogger friends when I got into this real blogging thing in February, JD won the Popular Vote and the Judges’ Vote for Best Business Blog @ his Black In Business blog
Adrianne won the Best International Blog Popular Vote and Judges’ Vote for Black Women in Europe
And the man who replaced me in the finals after I was disqualified for a mistake I made, That Field Negro won for Best Political/News Blog @ his Field Negro blog.

My brother you nominated me but did not mention your influence lead to blackinbusiness being a winner and afrospear member.Your leadership is being felt. Good work
this is so awesome
and so sorry to hear about your disqualification but the CNN call shows that word is getting out there
sorry for being AWOL lost net access about 6-8 weeks ago and waiting to be able to get it back
happy 50th !
Ha! I don’t know that I lead the way to anyones victory, but I’m glad if I helped in any way.
Yeah, I was wondering if you’d see this or at least the on LJ. The LJ one is just for you.
My blog has only been around since July 14th, ‘07, but I must say that I’m not the “award”
type of person. I want to write what I write and enjoy what I write without the thought of
a reward for doing what I view as both enjoyable and a community service since my concentration
is on ultimately helping to expose and mend those things which ail the black community.
I’m also not one who would vote. Who’s to say that one blog is not more important than the next?
It goes back to beauty being in the eyes of the beholder.

One can write authentically and still be recognized for one’s contribution Lynn. The two don’t nullify each other. And as for the importance of a blog I would say that in terms of filling a vacuum in expression, in reaching and resonating (and motivating) others, and in terms of consistency and longevity there are many viable measures to determine which blogs have more impact than others.
TriniGourmet,
I simply offered my personal opinion to my friend, Yobachi
which I am entitled to offer and which I stand by.
