Dr. Watkins has put us up on why Bill O’Reilly is really going at him; and the fact that this whole thing about the “happy Negro” comment is about 8 months old; bolsters Dr. Watkins. Why is Bill bring it up now; because it’s all he has to try to slander Watkins with since Watkins recently started going after O’Reilly’s advertisers.

The Back Story

You remember when Al Sharpton foolishly took O’Reilly to dinner at Silvia’s (famous Black resturant) in Harlem; and O’Raistly said he was surprised that Blacks conduct themselves in a resturant just like white people, and no one was screaming “bring me an ice tea M-fer”.

Well CNN had Dr. Watkins and Negro protector of white racist, conservative blogger LaShawn Barber (who I’ve appeared with on NPR) on to talk about it.

When Ms. Barber tried to excuse O’Reilly’s racism by saying that he made the Statement to Juan Williams and Williams wasn’t offended, Dr. Watkins rightfully responded that “Juan Williams sitting there as sort of the happy Negroe agreeing with Bill O’Reilly, doesn’t impress me. A man cannot walk into your home, and congradulate your mother for not being a prostitute; and not be offended.”

Recently, through his Your Black World website, Dr. Watkins started a campaign of accountability to hold specifically O’Racistly, Sean Klannity and Rush Limbaugh accountable for their distortions and degridation of Black people; saying:

A few days ago, we began talk of holding Bill O’Reilly, Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity accountable for their racialized smearing of Senator Barack Obama and Rev. Jeremiah Wright. This event was only the latest in non-stop racial attacks by those in the “Axis of Ignorance”, engaging in consistent social terrorism of people of color. Many of us sat angry and hurt as we felt defenseless to counter the lies being told on airwaves and media channels that distort elections and mute black voices across America.

The attack launched by O’Reilly this week is nothing but go old fashion retaliation. Watkins is going after O’Reilly’s advertisers, O’Racistly is starting to feel the heat; and so he’s try to discredit and scare Watkins to back him off.

Watkins goes on to write about his campaign that:

“While O’Reilly, Limbaugh and Hannity have a right to speak freely, I am sure many of you agree that they should not be allowed to attack your leaders using your money. This is what O’Reily and Happy Negro Juan Williams are really upset about. This is the reason for the character attack, and false race-baiting claim of racism against Dr. Watkins.

LOL, this was indeed funny even though there were no jokes. All she did was tell the truth, and reality is always the funniest thing.

What’s funny is the actress portraying Hillary Clinton telling the truth - now that’s Hillarious.

And no we Black folks will not rally around the Hillster, particularly because the attitudes of hers highlighted in this satire.

This is a powerful video through and through, both musically and visually. As well , it is treat for all Marvin Gaye fans. I’ve been a fan of his music since I was introduced to Heard It Through the Grapevine in a 5th grade Arts class, though he was dead before I knew he existed. I would’ve been abut 4 when he died.

I’ve never been treated to his personal musicianship before.

I feel sorry for John Conyer if he has to come home at night to this ball breaker. It’s funny too, because he’s so mild mannered. He barely speaks above a whisper. You almost think he’s falling asleep in mid-sentence when he talks.

But I guess John doesn’t care cause he’s getting that young poo-tang, and yes her 40 something years is young to him. To put his age into perspective, he’s one year younger than Martin Luther King. She married him when she was in her mid-20s and he was already almost old enough to collect social security. He was in congress before she was born.

Detroit seems intent on continually making Black people look bad.

Why has Hillary Clinton not denounced and “rejected” Mickey Kantor as well as James Carville and George Stephanopoulos (you know, the guy who was steadily going after Obama in the ABC “debate”) who high-fived Kantor’s denigration of voters and racial slur. This was a documentary that the Clinton’s participated in called “The War Room”; so there’s little chance that this is a secrete to them.

If it is, it’s high time Senator Clinton denounce and reject these three; now!

This is what Clinton’s close confidants say about the voters when they KNOW the cameras are rolling; wonder what they say about us behind our backs.

Then again, Hillary is reported, by first hand accounts, to have called Bill’s best good buddy from Arkansas a “fucking Jew bastard”

I watched a little of it when it aired this morning, and a little more of it now. From what I’ve seen he’s acquitted himself well, and dispelled the implications of Chris Wallace’s misleading questions.

Just on the first question he got the opportunity to dispel the myth that he doesn’t win Blue collar white voters.

And on the Pastor Wright issue, he brought up the point that I keep making about Martin Luther King and the Beyond Vietnam type speeches. Seventh paragraph from the bottom in that post.

I’m watching the program on first broadcast on television right now. Very good stuff. A real conversation between Moyer and Wright, as opposed to all the crap that media aired on it’s tabloid news slander fest. Pastor Wright is very illuminating about his perspective.

And a real journalist like Bill Moyer is bothering to play more full contextual portions of his sermons, instead of the chopped up sound bites that the yellow journalist in the tabloid media continually looped.

North Carolina Republican Party Invokes Wright

Throwing subtlety out the window, the North Carolina Republican Party began airing an ad today that seeks to tie the two Democrats running for governor to Sen. Barack Obama (Ill.) and, by extension, to Obama’s former pastor, Rev. Jeremiah Wright.

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), who has insisted he will not engage in personal attacks on either Obama or Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (N.Y.) quickly sought to distance himself from the ad.

In a letter to the chairwoman of the North Carolina Republican Party, McCain asked her to take the ad down — a request the party has not yet complied with.

Then to come in North Carolina:

The Nation reports that

Republicans are sharpening their knives against Barack Obama. No smear is too insignificant to broadcast. According to Time Magazine’s Michael Scherer, Floyd Brown, the creator of the infamous Willie Horton ad–credited with sinking Michael Dukakis’s candidacy in 1988–is launching a new ad campaign against Obama.

Scherer reports that Brown “has started four organizations to serve as front groups, plans to blast out a fundraising email to between 3 and 7 million conservatives, and debuted his first ad, which tries to argue that Obama is weak on crime, and therefore weak on terrorism.”

The ad, set to run in North Carolina, all-but accuses Obama of murder.

Writes Scherer:

The new ad recounts the deaths of three Chicago residents in 2001 at the hands of criminal gangs. “That same year, a Chicago state senator named Barack Obama voted against expanding the death penalty for gang-related murders,” an ominous female narrator intones. “So the question is, can a man so weak in the war on gangs be trusted in the war on terror?”

It’s tempting to ignore material this fringy and disgusting. But since the ad is likely to spread across the media, particularly in conservative circles, some context is in order.

In 2001, when Obama voted against expanding the death penalty for gang-related murders, the practice itself was widely discredited in the state of Illinois. The state’s Republican Governor, George Ryan, placed a moratorium on the death penalty in 2000, after 13 men on death row were found to be innocent and cleared of the accused crimes. The sentences of 156 death row inmates were subsequently commuted in 2003. “This is shaping up to be one of the great civil rights struggles of our time,” Ryan said. That same year, the right-leaning Chicago Tribune editorial page won a Pulitzer for its series of editorials against the death penalty…

The new ad, of course, is intending to scare, not inform.

I told you all in my last post what Michael Dukakis says about his own foolishness in sitting back and letting George Bush and Floyd Brown Willie Horton him. Let’s see if Obama will FINALLY learn a 20 year old lesson, as apparently he has not so far.

When asked by Michael Calderone about Wednesday nights “debate”, Stephanopoulos said:

“We asked tough but appropriate questions,” Stephanopoulos told me by phone this afternoon.

When I asked whether questions about flag pins or Bosnia are actually relevant to voters, he replied: “Absolutely.”

“The vote for the president,” Stephanopoulos said, “is one of the most personal” decisions that someone makes.

“When people make that choice, they take into account how candidates stand on the issues,” he said, but also are concerned with “experience, character [and] credibility.”

Barack Obama and many media critics have been making the following argument for the last couple of days about the ABC’s political theater show that was posed as a presidential debate; which was moderated by Charles Gibson and George Stephanopoulos:

“What he’s going to do in this campaign is focus on what’s important to the American people, on the jobs and the education. That’s what the American people care about. They want to move into the future. They don’t want to be diverted by side issues, and they’re not going to let the Republican attack machine divert them”

But those aren’t Barack Obama’s words, nor the words of anyone in his campaign. They’re the words of George Stephanopoulos himself; as communications director for Bill Clinton in 1992.

So wait a minute; when bringing up this type of stuff doesn’t benefits the Clintons Stephanopoulos says we shouldn’t be diverted with republican side issues, and when it does benefit the Clintons he says its important and fair game to bring up republican side issues.

It can no longer even the least bit be denied that Wednesday night was a political hit job by an insider Clinton hit man; not to mention intentional salacious yellow journalism for ratings.

Say Goodbye To George Stepphanopoulos’ journalistic credibility - In Memoriam

An Open Letter:

We the undersigned deplore the conduct of ABC’s George Stephanopoulos and Charles Gibson at the Democratic Presidential debate on April 16. The debate was a revolting descent into tabloid journalism and a gross disservice to Americans concerned about the great issues facing the nation and the world. This is not the first Democratic or Republican presidential debate to emphasize gotcha questions over real discussion. However, it is, so far, the worst.

For 53 minutes, we heard no question about public policy from either moderator. ABC seemed less interested in provoking serious discussion than in trying to generate cheap shot sound-bites for later rebroadcast. The questions asked by Mr. Stephanopoulos and Mr. Gibson were a disgrace, and the subsequent attempts to justify them by claiming that they reflect citizens’ interest are an insult to the intelligence of those citizens and ABC’s viewers. Many thousands of those viewers have already written to ABC to express their outrage.
