Determined Activism Versus Naysaysers Pt2

May 29th, 2008

…All They Have Is Criticism, No Alternatives

They think every battle should be the all and all. If an action doesn’t produce the ideal ultimate result, Naysayers claim it’s somehow pointless. They never have any alternatives mind you. Usually they’re doing nothing, and want to encourage you to do the same.

Normally their criticism is wrought with ignorance, not knowing what the hell they’re talking about; but that certainly never stops a naysayer.

A naysayer’s only point is to naysay; to be contrarian for the sake of being contrary.

Don’t be an ignorant ass naysayer; have a point. Have an alternative plan if you don’t believe the plan offered is the best. Actually know some facts and have studied the position of the person(s) you’re going to criticize before criticizing them. Don’t resort to straw man arguments and red-herrings. If you actually have a point, then you can stick to the merits. Broaden your view; if you have a wide perspective that takes many angles into consideration you’ll be better equipped to analyze the situation.

And lastly, remember the old adage that “it’s better to be thought a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt”.

Naysayers told Martin Luther King that he shouldn’t boycott busses and ask for equality; the white man would come around in due time if he was patient.

Naysayers told Barack Obama to wait his turn, a Black first term senator had no chance of getting the nomination.

Naysayers told SNCC they couldn’t integrate lunch counters with such an affront method; or buses with freedom rides.

Naysayers told Farrakhan he couldn’t get a million Black men to the national mall.

Naysayers told Fannie Lou Hamer she couldn’t integrate the all white Mississippi delegation.

Naysayers told Harriet Tuban that it was too dangerous to go back South and free slaves

Naysayers Naysay, while doers do!

In ’88 when Geraldine Ferraro said “If Jesse Jackson were not black, he wouldn’t be in the race,” Jesse Jackson said, “Some people are making hysteria while I’m making history”.

“And where we are met with cynicism and doubt and fear and those who tell us that we can’t, we will respond with that timeless creed that sums up the spirit of the American people in three simple words — yes, we can.” – Barack Obama, South Carolina, January 27, 2008

SO I just have to ask, is it that Obama is black or because you believe in his political platform? I have come across so many black Americans that support Obama and yet have no idea what his political agenda is. I find this trend disturbing.

I’m confused as to why you specify this post to support of Obama; the post is not about his campaign???

Most people, including most regular voters are not very familiar with anyones platform in any race, in any year. Most people are what are called “low information voters” so your observation is not specific to Black Obama supporters.

Most voters can’t tell you George Bush’s position on most things even after 7 and a half years of him being president.

    To answer your question:

I know Obama’s, McSame’s and Clinton’s platforms about as well as anyone who doesn’t work in national politics or is not a political reporter. Actually, when it comes to Obama, I apparently know it better then a lot of political operatives and political “journalist” judging from their fallacious comments about their fantasy of his lack of substance and saying they don’t know what he will do on A,B & C, or don’t know what he means by “preperations” before meeting with Iranian leaders; though he has detailed those specific things that they don’t know about time and time again.

Specific Africa policy would be about the one fussy area; but that never comes up anyway cause nobody (including Black people) cares about Africa.

And I don’t believe in his or anyone else’s political platform, I believe in mine. I believe Obama is with ease the best option we have left out of the 3; well out of the two, because it’s been over for Hillary since March. The rest of this has just been a bunch of bullshit.
