In our last post about the horrific Florida case of a mother being gang raped by teenagers, and her son beaten in their apartment; a trial date had been set.
Earlier this month, the defendants filed for seperation of their trials.
From WPTV
WEST PALM BEACH, FL, — Avion Lawson, Nathan Walker, Tommy Poindexter, and Jakaris Taylor are accused of sexually assaulting a mother at Dunbar VIllage in June of 2007. All are scheduled to go on trial next month.
Attorneys representing the defendants were in Palm Beach County Circuit Court this morning seeking separate trials.
Judge Krista Marx heard the motion but did not make a ruling.
Police say the four teens forced the woman’s young son to watch as they beat, raped and tortured her.
Police also say the boy was also beaten and forced to perform sex acts on his mother.

I’m 99.9% sure that last sentence is backwards, as it was always reported (including quotes from the woman about it) that she was forced to perform oral on her son. Not that one is less horrific than the other, but just for accuracy purposes. Uhh, who wants to think about it.
One suspect has already plead guilty:
