Discussing the Diaspora as seen through an internal Black lens
January 6th, 2008
First of all before we get into what this post is about, check out my new podcast function in the right panel under the google ads; I have a little message there for y’all. Check in on that every once in a while as I’m going to start to use it to bring your some more content, including interviews.
Now back to John Lennon’s ‘Imagine’.
I understand that this is somewhat of a communist manifesto, and I’m not a communist. But if you get past the atheist part of the song I think it’s really a great message and a really great song.
Lennon really express my desire for humankind - the way the world should be. “Nothing to kill or die for…Imagine all the people sharing all the world…A brotherhood of men”.
I love this joint:
The world should live as one! I am a dream, and I hope someday you’ll join us.
‘Working Class Hero’ is great too. Again, not a communist; but I’m definitely a populist!
“You’re still a fucking peseant as far as I can see”
This is the kind of music that makes me love music!

It really is a beautiful song, and many wars have been started over religion. I don’t know if it is a song for an atheist, I think it speaks more to religion, organized religion. Atheist have adopted the song because of the first line, but I am pretty sure Lenon was a spiritual person, and believed in God, just not the doctrines of religion.
I think he was spiritual MrsG. I don’t know if believed in God; but I’ll have to research that.
