Is it discrimination? Or is it preferences? We all have choices to make, but how does one know they’ve made the right decision without even trying something out of their range.
Discrimination is denying someone because of their race, looks, or even how they wear their hair. People have been discriminated against for years, but now people are discriminating by someone’s culture. Because a person is born in the United States, it doesn’t make them any different, or make a person less cultural than someone born on an island.
Some say it’s all about culture. But, don’t you think you’re limiting yourself? You can find American Culture. It might be different, but you can learn something. You have to want to learn something, and get out there and experience a culture other than yours. Get out of your comfort zone for a while.
One thing that puts Black American’s against Black Caribbean’s is competition. If we keep putting each other down then, we will never succeed, and we would never progress.
We as a race have come too far to look down on one another. We’re either going to progress as a community, or we’re going down.
One thing about people, we’re all individuals. We all have something unique about ourselves. Some of us speak different languages. Other’s like different genres of music.
Sometimes you have to take the pieces away from the puzzle and put it together again from scratch.
So, why would anyone want to receive the already made puzzle and not try to solve it?
Part of getting to know someone is finding out about that person. Piece by Piece, even if it takes you a few years to figure them out.
Although everyone has their preferences on whom they want to date; one should not limit themselves, nor stereotype.
And, until we learn how to love, and accept each other we’d never progress as a community.
