IT’S OVER - With Obama Winning NC & Almost Tying Indiana, Theres No More Discussion

May 7th, 2008

I mean, really there’s not much that needs to be said.

He has all the numbers on his side; Won the most states more than 2 to 1, he has won the delegate count, it is inevitable that he will clinch the majority of pledge delegates and likely soon, he’s winning the popular vote even if you do Hillary math of counting only primary states or the other Hillary math of counting in Florida.

He came within millimeters of winning what Hillary’s own camp described as a must win, Indiana; and he demolished her in North Carolina after the hardest three weeks a candidate can have.

He won a big state tonight, and won it big; there goes that argument. He went head to head with her in a sizable white working class state tonight, there goes that argument.

She has nothing to argue with – IT’S OVER

You’re Looking at the Democratic Party Presidential Nominee.

Barack and Michelle Obama

And probably the next President of these United States

(assuming they don’t assassinate him)

Barack and Michelle Obama 2

My VP List

Biden
Dodd
Gipheart
Rendell

I’ll elaborate in a post in the coming days.

Well, Yobachi, you know Clinton still says that she’s a candidate for Affirmative Action, and that the super-delegates might put her ahead of Obama if she doesn’t do well enough on the SAT’s and GPA that she and Obama have been competing for together.

But, what’s Hillary’s argument for requesting affirmative action from the superdelegates? She came into this race with more money, 100% name recognition, a husband who once was president, and favors to call in from across the country.

Normally, the purpose of Affirmative Action is to give people a chance when the started out behind. Hillary Clinton started out in front and now she says she’s an affirmative action candidate, looking for an automatic extra 200 points on her SAT’s. So, why does she deserve so much extra help? What makes her disadvantaged?

The Affirmative Action analogy is a great one Francis.

She wants AA simply because she feels entitled to it.

Dude is killing me with the AA. She is hungry for her spot. Well, what she considers her spot. At this point I just hope McCain doesn’t win.

Urban, she’s hungry for the top spot whether she earned it or not. Here we can see that white folks love affirmative action as long as it benefits them, and makes the playing filed uneven for minorities.

Yeah Raw Dawg, the politricksters always have something up their sleeve; but now that she can’t overtake him in pledge delegates or in popular vote even with Florida seated as is, that’s out the window. And there’s just no way they can seat Michigan as is. At best there will be a 50/50 deal to seat them; leaving the disparity the same.

Yes, it’s over for the Clintons but not for us who want real change in urban communities. I wrote on my blog how I couldn’t get too excited about Obama winning North Carolina. Why? Because I couldn’t stop thinking about the thuggish violence and abject poverty going on in black communities.

To get Obama to address urban issues, black and progressive people are going to have to organize and insist that he deal with the crises in the cities. The proliferation of guns; the need for more police; the need for jobs; for help with paying for utility costs– these things need to be addressed like yesterday. No more symbolism; Black communities need a real safety net, with emphasis on SAFETY.

MacDaddy, I’m more excited that Hillary lost and got her face slumped in; than I am that Obama won.

As for having Obama address our needs as president, I’m already on that. You’ll want to check out my post from yestered day titled

I don’t think there is a probably about it. At least I hope not.
Change does start from the bottom up though, and that means in the towns counties, and states, so few people are involved in local politics and I am perplexed as to this. There is no national progressive movement unless there is local progression.

Lindsay Lindsay Beyerstein (Majikthise)has some good photos of the National Action Commission protest at One Police Plaza, today. If you don’t have any these are pretty good photos.

The numbers (and the money) are against her even w/ or w/out Florida and Michigan and w/ or w/out the caucus states but… I never underestimate what folks are either capable or willing to do when they feel like they are loosing control or their way of life is threatened. I believe he’s got it, but also agree with Raw Dawg and want to hold off from celebration just yet. SjP

It will be interesting to see what tricks Hillary has up her sleeve to get the nomination at this point. Clearly destroying the democratic party if she doesn’t win is her ultimate goal. Reminds me of something my grandmother said years ago ” They wanna be right even when they ain’t right. “
