Jena Six Effort Fueled by the Net

Jena Lynching Tree

I came across this article on how net activism is driving the Jena Six movement. It talks about how it is net-based media outlets spreading awareness while traditional media barely covers the story, and about the online petition drive.

I don’t think the amount of signatories were mentioned in this article, but a couple of weeks ago, 45,000 signatures were delivered to the District Attorney’s office in Jena, primarily garnished from the internet.

The New Jena Six Strategy to flood the media is still on, and I’ll have new details on where that stands and where it’s going, in the coming days

Also, Michael Baisden has been hitting it pretty hard on his radio show the last few days. Unfortunately he doesn’t have any info on his site, not even an icon with a link to Jena Six info. Maybe I’ll drop a line and suggest it, I’m sure it was just an oversight.

This Jena Six Movement is being pushed from the bottom up, but it’s increasingly growing and getting attention on bigger and bigger platforms.

Let’s keep up the work y’all!

The word is spreading. I have seen a rise in my google search for “Jena 6″ and “what is Jena 6″.

    So what’s the next step?

I’ve noticed it myself. Practially 60% of the sites that I visit are addressing the issue. Glad it’s being noticed.

Yeah Mrs. Grapevine, when I look at my blog stats I have more incoming random traffic from people who did Jena six searches than anything else. it’s really picked up the last 2 weeks.

Shelia, I first learned about the Jena 6 through blogs. If I didn’t read the internets I doubt if I would know anyting about it. That’s what makes the media push I’ve been touting so important.

Hi, I’m one of the authors of the petition to the DOJ. (Another Afrospear blogger, Sylvia from The Antiessentialist Conundrum, came up with that petition idea a few months back.) b. medusa at the Mnemosyne blog suggested that folks check in here to co-ordinate planning, so, I guess I’m just introducing myself.

Good looking on putting that petition together. I’m just trying to building on what you and others have done and take that next step.

Are you one mybloglog or blogcatalog so that I can add you? My address at the first is www.mybloglog.com/buzz/members/Yobachi/ - I already have that one open were I could copy and paste the url; so that’s why I’m not giving the other.
