Geraldo Rivera Calls Wyclef a Poverty Pimp

Fox News talking head Jeraldo Rivera appeared on Fox’s the O’Reily Factor with Bill O’Reily. Speaking of the distribution of money from the star studded Haiti Telethon a couple of weeks ago, he questioned why Yele Haiti was being giving the least $1 mil as opposed to 6 to 8 million to other charities. He supposed that it was because Yele Haiti isn’t trusted by whomever is distributing the money. No facts from the distributor to support this assumption, mind you; and no recognition of the most logical probable reason being the proportional size of Yele Haiti to massive organizations like the Red Corss and Oxfam.

Rivera said “All the people I spoke with are extremely suspicious of Wyclef Jean - they believe he has been self-dealing, that not all the money he has raised has gone to the people,” and not having named not 1 person who he talked to or in anyway demonstrating their credentials or giving their reasons for suspicion; Rivera then goes on to call Wyclef a “poverty pimp” who’s set up Yele Haiti for his own enrichment.

All this again without anyone having demonstrated that Yele Haiti has ever stolen or misappropriated even $1 dollar.

Conversely, Wyclef loaded a video onto his youtube channel Friday in which he notifies the public that Yele has hired RSM McGlanden which he “one of the world’s largest international accounting firms”, having substantial experience in monitoring NGOs (non governmental organizations)
