Letter to The DNCC About Access To The Convention Floor

Yesterday I referenced a letter sent Tuesday to various DNCC staff and managers, including the Convention Chairwoman Nancy Pelosi.
As that was not responded to, another was sent last night. I did awake this morning to find a response from Aaron Myers, Online Communications Director. I will not get into the exchange with Mr. Myers yet, as I’ve not had opportunity to respond back directly.
I will however, as asked, post here the heart of the original letter sent Tuesday, including the proposal that was for resolution of the situation.
I will note that the details of the proposal may change based on evolving information; but the nature of our request will not - equitable access to all demographics.

By the nature of the system the DNC has set up, Black bloggers have been largely excluded from inclusion on the convention floor.
There is a principle in the law (and I know this is not a legal matter; but it illustrates the point) that says even if a practice is not meant to be discriminatory; if its effect in actuality causes discrimination than it is legal discrimination and against the laws. Well the DNC is instituting a policy regarding blogger access to the convention floor which is discriminatory.
I look forward to your resolution to what I’m sure was just an oversight. We (Black Bloggers) are not even asking that you take away state pool credentials from those who have been awarded, and give them to Black blogs; we’re simply asking that Black bloggers be added to the convention floor. Whether they are with a particular state or not is irrelevant; the issue is Black blogs should simply have the same access as white blogs.
Blacks are some 20 percent of the Democratic Party electorate; and out of all the state pool blogs we were only able to identify up to maybe 5 percent that might be Black operated blogs. We’re not convinced the number is that high, as we haven’t been able to confirm even those. With there being nearly 50 white bloggers to the contrary, I feel that no less than 15 Black operated blogs from the general pool should also be given floor access equivalent to that of all these white bloggers. With the Black to white differentiation in the democratic electorate being approximately 20 to 60; 15 Black operated blogs to the nearly 50 white operated ones already credentialed to the floor would maintain representative proportionality.
