Discussing the Diaspora as seen through an internal Black lens

Harry Reid & Pat Robertson’s comments are instructive into how a lot of white folk think. Robertson is basically saying:
‘How dare those Negroes get their freedom from the white man? The Godly thing to do would have been to serve their superior masters til Kingdom Come. Then they can get dey pie in the sky. Therefore, they must have made a pact with the devil”
Maybe if they learned to stop speaking in “Negro Dialect” they’d be worthy.
If you’re not familiar with he above references, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid admitted to saying Obama could win the presidency because he “light skinned” and didn’t speak with “a Negro dialect”.
WILDER: Not enough - Reid still owes Americans an apology
Comments insulted more than just the president
Douglas Wilder was the first black elected governor of a U.S. state.
Pat Roberts on Haitian Devil Pact causing earthquake:
Text
“Something happened a long time ago in Haiti and people might not want to talk about.
They were under the heel of the French, you know Napoleon the third and whatever. And they got together and swore a pact to the devil. They said ‘We will serve you if you will get us free from the prince.’ True story. And so the devil said, ‘Ok it’s a deal.’ And they kicked the French out. The Haitians revolted and got something themselves free. But ever since they have been cursed by one thing after another.”

Your generalization of white people based on two peoples comments is ridiculous. You are being just as prejudice as you claim not to be.
“Your generalization of white people”
You don’t read English well do you, because the qualifier “a lot” by definition makes it not a generalization. I must have hit a personal nerve.
What’s ridiculous is an inability,or either a refusal, to comprehend simple English.
And you clearly also don’t know what the word prejudice means.
Robertson’s comments further divide people of faith from people of faith. Unfortunately, it also appears to be dividing people along racial lines.
Robertson is a grandstanding fool!
Robertson is playing up to the few who falsley believe this kind of thing. It is great for his ratings, he gets national exposure, and HE reaps a windfall of donations.
Robertson is all about MONEY and his opinion represents a small number white folk and christians that are “Stupid for Jesus” and are easily led and excited by the idea that God destroys people and nations out of vengance.
Most people choose to be “Smart for Christ” and are appalled and are denouncing Robertson’s statements. They just don’t get the national exposure. My minister in Florida is angry and outspoken. The large congregation is vocal about their objections.
This is a blog from a christian author, Donald Miller that calls Robertson pitiful.

Jake , you’re being a typical apologist for racist white people and you’re pathetic. Considering how parts of that community continually votes for conservative candidates that are supported by birthers, tea baggers, and hate mongers you are in denial. When in power , they create policies that hurt people of color. Until ignorant people like yourself see it , you won’t ever understand issues with the color line.
Don’t try to take my comment and break it down to the ultimate literal level. All I was saying is that a lot of white people don’t think like these people. I know I don’t. I’m not trying to say what they said is okay. Settle down people.
Jake I just checked my pulse and I’m calm. You began taking something that was posted out of context. It’s just getting increasingly tiresome to listen to people like yourself, the tea baggers, birthers, Limbaughs etc. claim they aren’t racist yet put it in practice with their words and threats.
I had an idea of perhaps the way Obama and many black leaders are forced to denounce the Farrakhans and Jeremiah Wrights , maybe we need more white people like yourself to denounce these hatemongers. At the very least label the K.K.K., skinheads and people who kill abortion doctors as ” terrorists”. Settle down and open your mind to the reality. Take the initiative.
Jake, I think the problem is that you’re more concerned with trying to create an air that blacks “prejuidice” is just as much a problem (a false one at that), and you do so as a response to white racism being called out; rather than take on your own. You actually are in effect excusing Reed and Robertson by putting your efforts towards turning proper attention away from their the nonsense, and attacking someone for daring to point it out
Eileen, thanks for the link. And yes, I know Pat Roberts neither roundly represents Christians nor white people, but he clearly represents a strong contingent; the same contingent that continues to support him so that he has a show.
