Megan Williams, Invisible Black Women Pt2

To date, I haven’t seen one t.v. report on the Megan Williams case, not a one! Which is not to say in the whole of the country that there haven’t been any, but if someone like myself who regularly watches the news ain’t seeing it, that means they’re highly scarce.
Can you imagine if 6 black people had held captive and rapped and tortured a white woman. We wouldn’t hear the end of the story. If Megan Williams was a Megan or Becky, she’d be a house hold name.
If some how the television news media missed it at first, yet the white blogospher was hitting this issue with the veracity and interest that the Afrosphere has stayed on top of this, they would have surely picked it up; as I can’t remember the countless times I’ve seen news reports credited to blog activity.
They want us to believe it’s all in our minds, and everything is fair, equal and dandy in this country. Well it is for them. But from Stepha Henry, to Dunbar Village, to Megan Williams; they show how little our lives mean to most of them.
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. We’re in this by ourselves folks. You better be organizing in your local community for battle.

Looking at the pictures of the culprits, it seems there may be an inbreeding problem. I cannot imagine a punishment too severe for these animals. I hope the rally goes well and results in stronger hate crime laws. As for this young lady, my sincerest best wishes.
Inbreeding — I was thinking the same thing. Actually some of those women are the mothers of some of those men. As bad as it is to rape period, could you imagine engaging in this activitiy with your own child?
The Megan Williams case appears to be turning into a case of domestic violence case rather than a hate crime. According to the New York Time, Bobby R. Brewster, one of the six suspects in the torture case, had a “previous relationship with the victim and was charged in July with domestic battery and assault after a dispute between them.” It appears that they may have subsequently kidnapped and tortured Megan William in retaliation for filing the domestic battery charge. This fits in with the suspect’s history of violence. According to the Times, “When he was 12, Mr. Brewster shot and killed his stepfather at the mobile home and served time in a juvenile detention center. Mrs. Brewster, convicted of voluntary manslaughter, served five years in the fatal 1994 shooting of an 84-year-old woman who the police now say was her mother-in-law.”

It easy to imagine the extent of news covers if :black people had held captive and rapped and tortured a white woman.” It would be virtually zero. For Example, in January 2007, two white college students, Channon Crhistian, 21, and her boyfriend, Christopher Newsom, 23, were carjacked by two black males in Knoxville, Tennessee, in January 2007. The two college students were taken at gunpoint to a house where two other black males and a black female joined the two carjackers in torturing and killing the white couple. Both Channon and Christopher repeatedly were raped. Newsom was shot, his body wrapped in a blanket, set afire and dumped on railroad tracks. Christian was held captive for at least several hours, strangled, her body wrapped in trash bags and put in a garbage can inside the house.

Knowing somebody or supposedly having a relationship with a victim does not by any means preclude the perpitrator from committing a hate crime against that person.
From you own article: “The woman told the police that she had been held for more than a week, threatened with death if she tried to leave and taunted with racial epithets during multiple sexual assaults by various men and women.”
THAT’S A HATE CRIME. The other 5 people weren’t dating her, what’s their excuse? Plus in the article I posted Megan gives greater detials of threats to lynch her and cut off her foot like Kunta Kente.

You know I have not seen or heard any thing of Megan William’s abusers on tv either. No news reports aside from the original and the subsequent one that attempted to negate the presence of a hate crime. The idea of black women as un-rape-able and un-abuse-able is a constant in mainstream society and this case is but one of many. Now had the victim been white and the abusers been of color you can believe that the outcry would have been a level above deafening!
I’m not sure if Megan can receive justice, if two of her tormentors have already KILLED two other family members and received lenient sentences. As for the media coverage, it honestly seems like she’s not “marketable” in the media’s eyes. In order to gain public outcry and outrage, the victim has to be sooo pretty, sooo white, sooo successful, sooo nice, sooo everything that would make people say, “Why would anyone do such an awful thing to someone sooo special?”.
As far the Knoxville, Tennessee couple killed, there should be outrage and justice as well. However, I’m convinced there is no media coverage, not because the killers were black (look at the coverage of Vick for killing dogs), but because something suspect would be accused of the victims (if someone “googles” it, they will see).
Femigog, you know that nappy headed black bitch brought it on her self. You know black women aren’t really women anyway; more like sexual monsters, so it isn’t that bad. She should be cool with it.
Didn’t I read that the police went to where Megan was being held and the mother of the house said she didn’t know where Megan was and Megan had crawled to the door and said “Help me?” Does that not indicate, or at least imply that she was being held against her will? Domestic violence, my ass! As Yobachi said, just because they dated previously, it does not mean that this case is automatically exempt from being a hate crime…a hate crime is defined as a crime against a person because of their race, meant to cause fear and intimidation…I think this fits the bill…one last thing…the very fact that this ignorant family took place in raping and demeaning this woman should further strengthen the fact that this is a HATE CRIME!!! They targeted this woman, they knew what they were doing, it was premeditated and sadistic, and if (God bless) Megan had not crawled to the door that day, Lord knows what would have happened to her…

Those charged are criminals/animals and if it doesn’t fit the hate crime criteria, which it does not appear to, the job is to change the hate crime criteria. The criminals are ignorant and quite inbred from what I’ve heard…they already have criminal records and there were charged filed of domestic battery in July according to the Charlestown news here. I do believe that the media does not want to cover it for a lot of reasons.

They don’t relate to “those kind of people”. If it doesn’t have something to do with what is perceived as the boy or girl next door it doesn’t interest anyone.
West Virginia is not apt to allow too much about those cretins out of the bad anyway, so they are keeping tight. They probably should have been put away for past crimes but were treated leniently because they were so stupid no one thought them that dangerous.
Imagine several black men raping and torturing a beautiful white girl? Don’t need to. Just google “Channon Christian”. She was kidnapped, watched her boyfriend tortured in murdered in front of her eyes, then held captive for 2 days of torture and repeated rape and humiliation. It wasn’t all over the national media for days. In fact, no one but local news media seemed to take the slightest notice.
I don’t even know where to begin. Yes, I’ve covered this case from day one on my website, blogs, etc. It was simply horrific to think that anyone could do another human being the way they did young Megan Williams.
Unfortunately, with the lack of continued media coverage in this case, speculation is rampant. Did she have a relationship with Bobby Brewster? Yes! With the latest information released on Thursday from one of the suspects sister (George Messer) it would [appear] Megan had a relationship with Bobby Brewster commencing in June 2007. If one reads between the lines you are given the impression that perhaps she was living at the Brewster trailer. It’s difficult to say with certainty because if my brother was in jail being accused of a heinous crime such as this one, would I lie to help reduce his sentence? I don’t know.
The “domestic” incident between Bobby Brewster and Megan happened in July and Bobby was jailed and released on August 2nd. It was at this time that the so called friend Christa picked Megan up and took her to the trailer under the premise of a party. In her 9/8/07 statement to Logan Police she said Christa was a friend. Carmen Williams stated Christa called the hospital and asked, “How’s my friend doing?” In the ABC unedited/edited video Megan stated she got in a stranger’s car, she didn’t know the girl who took her to the Logan trailer.
I won’t rehash every detail, but the bottom line is: Megan’s statements are being prompted, I believe, by Malik Shabazz to further his hate crime charges and rally. The rally is now up in the air. Will it go forward? It’s not looking that way, but we should know more on Sunday evening.
I really wish they would keep the cameras away from this young woman. Every time the ABC reporter asked, “So why do you think they did this to you Megan?” Her reply didn’t waver, “It’s because I was colored. They said they didn’t like N*” The reporter kept coming back to the question and Megan stood firm.
It hurts my heart to see this woman being exploited this way. These animals will likely receive life sentences on the numerous counts against them. Pushing for hate crime charges in the media may only complicate the sentences these animals deserve. The current hate crime laws don’t support the facts of this case. We hate to hear that, but that’s how it looks.
It’s blatantly obvious that hate played a large role in this crime. I guess time will reveal all. In the meantime we continue to pray for recovery for Megan Williams. That’s going to take a very long time on an emotional level. Thanks for the support Mr. Boswell. We all have to support justice for hate in any form, to any person.

It pains my heart to see what is going on. Until today I have never heard of Megan Williams. Fortunately I have access to the internet. Why was this not publicized. But I can turn the news on and see that Britney Spears was partying all weekend. Its a damn shame that this is acceptable by the media. I agree if her name was Becky or Suzie everyone and their momma would know about this story. I hope them bastards go to hell with gasoline draws on. I have 2 daughters and 1 son, if anything like this ever happened to them, may God have mercy on the s.o.b. that did it cause I sure as hell won’t. Although I am black and white I hate when this type of thing goes down because I am a human being.
