News Flash - Barack Obama Is A Politician

July 10th, 2008

No really, we need a news flash for this; because apparently a lot of people are mistaken otherwise.

News Flash - Barack Obama Is A Politician!

Some people think he’s a deity. Others think he’s the second coming of MLK. And yet, others think he’s just above politics; nope – just not so.

For instance, his FISA Sellout

I was advised that I shouldn’t hold Obama accountable for a vote, since because he’s under attack from the right on national security; he some how had to take that position.

That’s called playing politics! I understand it, and am even okay with it to a degree; but not to where you start compromising fundamental principles. I do not believe/accept that the ends justify the means. That’s playing politics no matter what you call it, nor no matter what excuse you give for it.

Further, I find it more so unacceptable that some think Obama is above reproach, and just because I don’t want McCain to be president; that, then I should hold the line of Obama’s immunity from criticism. I don’t care if we’re talking about Obama, the NAACP, the DNC, nor anybody else - NOBODY IS ABOVE REPROACH.

I don’t stand back watching wrong and not say anything; actually, I became a blogger, in part, to do the exact opposite. I do not subscribe to your sacred cow-ism. The more you try to prevent their from being any criticism of your sacred cow, the more I wonder why are you so scared to have your cow stand up to some scrutiny. Makes me think that you’re not confident about what’s up under the rug.

    Yobachi,

*Fist Bump to Ya!* for this post.

It is time to show our political maturity. Obama is a human being and he is truly a politican. Which means his actions are open to be examined and criticized or praised.

Obama’s FISA vote was not the way I thought he should go. But such is politics.

One thing that has bothered me all along about being an Obama supporter. The stereotype that goes with being a supporter. Everybody is not an Obama~maniac! I believe that all politicans are open to be questioned, criticized and praised when it is honestly due. Barack is no different. Nor should he be treated like he is immune from valid criticisms.

I try to keep in mind that we are on new political turf because Barack is the candidate. But there are familiar portions of the political landscape on this journey. So when he conducts himself like the politican that he is~I am not surprised.

We need to keep in mind that we have a responsibility to ourselves as voters. That requires making informed decisions and choices. The era of voting black because you are black needs to be carefully examined.

Kevin, I’m glad it appears more people are speaking to show that they can be political supporters without being political zombies.

“We need to keep in mind that we have a responsibility to ourselves as voters”

Seems this has been lost in the quest to see a Black face in a high place. As if by simple virtue of having a Black person in power, it means things are going to be better for Black people; even if the Black politician is not held accountble.

Don’t Black people run Detriot? It’s just wonderful for Black people in Detroit isn’t it *rolls eyes*
