   First, let me say that I am caucasion, the best friend of a black man, a father, a professional, and a husband. Like you, I am concerned about issues of injustice. However, I find it ironic that African-Americans, from all over the U.S. will leave thier families, thier jobs, and thier own communities, in order to march in a small Louisiana town and demand justice for 6 youths. MEANWHILE, the crime in African-American neighborhoods is sky-rocketing. MEANWHILE, black on black crime is ramped. Ladies and Genteman, I challenge you: Move in force and demand justice in your OWN BACK YARDS. THEN, your plight for justice may be taken seriously by the nation who are watching. I share the same opinion as millions of concerned Americans. We are concerned for justice EVERYWHERE, not just in Jena, louisiana. Take a good look around your own neighborhood before you board the busses for Jena. Could your OWN community use your efforts much more than Jena? I bet so.

    I don’t understand how without researching the entirety of the things you jumped up to say this wasn’t about civil rights.
    How is it you didn’t know about the noose involved in the Jena 6 case? It was the catalyst.

    Neither you or the other poster who came through to oppose Jena 6 left your websites so I don’t know how seriously I can take either of your comments. It also looked like you posted at the same time, but maybe it’s just a glitch in the email feed for the comments…

    I’m not so much interested in having a provocative conversation, if the injustices involved in this case aren’t going to be taken seriously enough for the facts to be researched before an opinion is formed and spoken.

    You have your perspective, but without living as a person of color and experiencing the caustic nature of racism or at least truly versing yourself in the history of oppression, debased social conditioning (which in large part contributed to self-hatred and lack of unity in the Black community—let’s not act like psychological wounds don’t become generational habits—and let’s certainly not act like the very root of self-hatred in the Black community didn’t come from the systematic racism that has disenfranchised people of color and continuously pushed the idea of glorified white-skin) and genocide, you simply have no idea how serious systematic racism is.

    Your roots were not tampered with. You were not denied your customs or your language most more than likely.

    While there is truth that individual struggle is individual struggle anyway you slice it, it is impossible to be truly honest and diminish the struggle of Black people (or people of color in general).

    We could go on forever about this. If you truly believe Blacks have not continued to be treated as second class citizens to an unacceptable degree, nothing anyone can say will be allowed into your subjective reality.

    I’m really not interested in having anyone add insult to injury in light of what the Jena 6 have been subjected to, and what has happened recently to Megan Williams who was tortured and raped repeatedly by her white kidnappers (men and women), who made her eat animal feces, cut into her body, and told her they were doing it because she was black (I am declining to use the ‘n’ word so they are loosely quoted). It doesn’t end there though. The courts in West Virginia chose to do a background check on the rape and torture victim Megan, and while she was trying to heal psychologically and physically from wounds that are beyond comprehension, they threw her in jail for writing a bad check in the past.
    Oh and I shouldn’t neglect to mention that the FBI decided they wouldn’t call it a hate crime.

    These incidents are not isolated, but they have become visible for a reason and I, along with others I am sure would appreciate it if at the very least, the pain the black community feels to see these kinds of things STILL happening would be respected.

    You’ve obviously come here to insult. I don’t accept. I doubt anyone else will either.

    And the ideal that they he did nothing, and they all got together and just jumped him out the blue is absolutely ridiculous. He was standing with the known noose hangers, making racial taunts.

    I’ve seen plenty of people get their ass whooped at school, including getting stomped; and they don’t get decades worth of charges.
