Powerful Hurricane Katrina Documentary

Desert Bayou is about how, without consent or notification, Katrina evacuees were shipped off to Utah.

At the time of the evaccuation I recognized that send people all out to the west coast and want not; especially without them choosing to go, was problematic. I had a friend, BlackPerspective contributor Tressie McMillan write a statement to the effect that the evacuees should be kept in the south or as close as possible to their support groups, culturally familiar surroundings and near were their friend’s and relatives could drive to go get them if necessary. I sent it out to a number of major media outlets, but got no response; and never saw any reporting that echoed or explored this sentiment.

    that was so sad what happen cause my causein was in that in she had amost die but she had prayed to god and she did not die so i feel bad about the other people that die cause some of the people was my family……..
