Discussing the Diaspora as seen through an internal Black lens
February 27th, 2010

Michael Steele has become increasingly buffoonish, as he continues to make himself little more than a caricature of anything serious and respectable.
Steele often runs around talking in faux, badly executed hip hop lingo that is clearly not his regularly speech; in what I see as an intra-racist means of trying to reach out to Black folks on behalf of conservatives. He’s cast his lot fully with those who de-legitimize any complaint of racism as false, and dismiss such complaints, regardless of validity, out of hand as “playing the race card”.
So now when the he gets heat, and he can’t legitimately respond to criticism of his poor performance as RNC Chair, what does he do; he all of a sudden sees racial bias manifest when it’s of benefit to himself.
According to The Plumline the Washingtonian magazine reports that:
Steele acknowledges that at times he has a tendency to take things too far. “And I get checked on that, just as when I was a young boy and I pushed the envelope too far and my Mama was there to check me.”
But there’s an edge to his voice when he talks about a double standard that he believes has been applied by his critics, and he posits racism as the cause: “I don’t see stories about the internal operations of the DNC that I see about this operation. Why? Is it because Michael Steele is the chairman, or is it because a black man is chairman?”
For the record, I don’t find the phrase “playing the race card” to be legitimate; especially not as commonly used, as I explain here.

I just wish he would GO AWAY!
I do too, he’s just really a buffoonish embarrassment.
It almost seems like he was deliberately put in charge of the G.O.P. to mock President Obama and the concept of blacks in leadership positions so that in 2012 white men can make a strong comeback.
LOL, good theory S. Justice, and quite plausible.
