Discussing the Diaspora as seen through an internal Black lens
February 19th, 2010
George W. Bush, after the 9/11 attacks where planes were flown into two World Trade Center buildings and into the Pentagon, said, you’re either with us, or you’re with the terrorist.
Today a domestic “terrorist” flew his plane into a building filled with IRS agents, and newly elected Massachusetts Senator Scott Brown sympathized with with pilot Joe Stack, and likened Stack to his supporters that voted for him:

The pilot was NOT a “Terrorist” So the title of this post is incorrect. Good try though to bash Scott Brown. Carry on.
The term ” terrorist” does not apply to white people. If it did, then Tim McVeigh, the killers of abortion doctors , people who make threats at Obama , the klan etc would be called ” terrorists”. The R.N.C. under Bush has hijacked the word and apply it to people of color that threaten ” our way of life”. It’s a double standard that would have Orwell rolling in his grave. The only exception is Bill Ayers and that was because he had a past association with a black president when he was a kid.
Shea–
Who said Tim McVeigh wasn’t a terrorist? The Klan could be considered a form or being a terrorist. Bill Ayers was a terrorist. This pilot was NOT a terrorist. Just because someone snaps from loosing everything, life savings, to the IRS and snapped and maybe not that stable to begin with and doing what he did. Which no one is saying was right. Violence is NEVER the answer.
Carry On….
“The pilot was NOT a “Terrorist” ”
Then neither were the 9/11 Hijackers, because he did the same thing that they did.
And according to the FBI’s definition, terrorism is: The unlawful use of force or violence against persons or property to intimidate or coerce a Government, the civilian population, or any segment thereof, in furtherance of political or social objectives.
Stack committed violence for the express purpose of coercing the IRS to change, and to get the civilian population to rise up in furtherance of political and social objectives.
Just because his name is not Muhammad El Al-Bashir, somehow you want to claim he’s not a terrorist.
Tom, so now ihn your second argument you justify why somebody commits terrorism. So it’s okay to smash planes into buildings if you having a hard time in life.
If you want to side with the domestic terrorist who are aligned with your views, carry on.
ok so I snap and go postal and go home and get a shot gun and go back to the office and start blasting. Am I a terrorist? NOPE.
I snap and get in my car and run people over and I a terrorist? NOPE.
I snap and get in my plane and fly it into my office build and all of the sudden I’m a terrorist? NOPE! Get it. Ok good.
9/11 Hijackers were 100% TERRORIST!!
Get my point? Just because he gets into his plane instead of his car do NOT label him as a terrorist.
ok cool. thanks. bye.
Also I never never never said i agreed with what he did. Hence me saying Violence is never the answer.
I may add that who said this pilot has the same views that I do??????????? All I said that he is not a terrorist. That’s it. That’s all. ok cool so…. CARRY ON.
“ok so I snap and go postal and go home and get a shot gun and go back to the office and start blasting. Am I a terrorist? NOPE”
It depends on why you did it. There’s no such actual thing as “snapping”, it’s just a characterization.
I demonstrated in my post how what he did was terrorism, by the definition. All you’re doing is saying its not, because you say so.
“Also I never never never said i agreed with what he did”
No, you just excused it, and minimalized it as snapping. He planned an attack, wrote a manifesto about it way in advance, and then took the time to go carry it out with all forethought.
“who said this pilot has the same views that I do”
You gave it away when you tried to justify him. I notice you’re still not saying you don’t agree with his views.
“No, you just excused it, and minimalized it as snapping. He planned an attack, wrote a manifesto about it way in advance, and then took the time to go carry it out with all forethought.”
I didn’t “excused” it by no means. So once again you are incorrect.
“You gave it away when you tried to justify him. I notice you’re still not saying you don’t agree with his views.”
You don’t know me or anything about me to make that call. So you are incorrect. But you get an A for effort. Did I agree with what he did? NO!!!!!
You’re not going to change my opinion on if this guy is or is not a terrorist. If you want to think that he is, so be it. We can both agree to disagree.
Tommy,
I definitely have no intention of trying to change your mind because it’s clear that you just want to defend Scott Brown for his unAmerican support of a right wing white terrorist. You’ve decided to try to force/bully others to change their mind about what Scott Brown said and try to act as though the intention was sour grapes over the election.
As defined in the dictionary a terrorist is the unlawful use of violence by a person or group with the intention of intimidating or coercing societies or governments often for ideological purposes. The manifesto he wrote clearly put him in that category.
And yet you couldn’t even bring yourself to actually acknowledge that the Klan is a terrorist group.
” …could be considered “? is a copout.
All the exclamation points, quotes and capitol letters in your posts show that you just passionately want to defend Scott Brown no matter what he does. Even if he supports a terrorist that killed hardworking Americans for his own ideological purposes.
And with that Shea Justice has successfully ended the argument. Logic and facts reign over ideology.
I mean equivocating about the Klan, really; just unbelievable!
