Passport Gate
It’s either a sign of utter incompetence, or a sign of a cover up; which would probably mean that the spying that preceed the cover up was orchastrated by the Bush administration.
Word came down last Thursday night that Barack Obama’s passport info had been snooped on within the State Department multiple times. There’s a notification system for taking unarthorized looks at passport data; but apparently it only alerts some middle managers and not the higher ups in the agency.
First it was Obama who had been spied on without State Department brass (supposedly) knowing for months, then by morning we had convenient tales that it supposedly happen to all three candidates.
If it happened just to Obama, it looks like a scheme. If it happened to all three, it looks like incompetence. It’s better to be thought incompetent than to be thought to have conducted a criminal scheme.
“The circumstances in this case may be different from the George H.W. Bush administration’s snooping into Bill Clinton’s passport records during the 1992 presidential campaign,” said Rep. Howard Berman, D-North Hollywood (Los Angeles County), chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, which will conduct an investigation. “But it is worth noting that that earlier situation also was characterized as isolated and nonpolitical when the news initially emerged.”

It later came to be known that the Bush administration was looking for something to embarrass Clinton with in the campaign; most specifically related to then whispers of him going to Europe to dodge the draft during vietnam.
Obama is the only one of the 3 candidates pushing for congressional involvment in the investigation.

Missile Parts Sent to Taiwan in Error
By THOM SHANKER

WASHINGTON — Instead of sending helicopter batteries, the United States shipped four electrical fuses for Minuteman nuclear missile warheads to Taiwan, a mistake that was discovered only last week — a year and a half after the erroneous shipment, Pentagon officials disclosed on Tuesday.
Officials said the nose-cone fuses contained no nuclear material, and were similar in function to the ones used for conventional munitions, although these were designed specifically to send an electrical signal to the trigger of the MK-12 nuclear warhead as it was approaching the ground.
Even so, the incident is another embarrassment for America’s nuclear weapons establishment, in particular the Air Force, which previously disclosed that a B-52 bomber mistakenly carried six nuclear cruise missiles on a flight from North Dakota to Louisiana last year.

How could you possibly ever get this wrong? Why isn’t there at least double redundancy in checking packaging with labeling with orders to make sure they all properly concur?
Iraq Debacle
If your interested, watch this clip from the just aired Frontline Documentary “Bush’s War” about how Paul Bremer was picked to be in charge in Iraq precisely because he was “inexperienced” and “didn’t know much about the middle east”.
