Discussing the Diaspora as seen through an internal Black lens

A Short Article About It

Okaaay!
Someone who’s never seen Tyra’s show before asked “is it good”.
My response:
If you think trite feigning of serious discussion, constantly intermingled with House of Style type programming and continuous promotion of Next Top Model with a pseudo-intellectual host pretending to be deep when she’s has about as much social-cultural depth as a fifth of gin after Amy Whinehouse has 15 minutes with it; then why yes, most certainly.
The best that can be said for Tyra’s show is that at least it’s not the cultural slash and burn, societal cesspool that has characterized most daytime talk shows of the last decade such as Jerry Springer, Riki Lake and latter day Maury Povich. I also give her some credit for trying to tackle serious subjects; the problem is that she has the tackling skills of an arena league reject or a kicker trying to stop Devin Hester from taking it all the way to the house.
Well, at least they make a cute couple.

I have watched the show and it is entertaining, Tyra is no dummy and white folks seem to like her. Unlike Oprah, she has not sold black men down the river!
It’s entertaining in a mindless distraction sort of way.
She’s a good hustler and has some talents, but she feigns more depth than what she really
grasp, or is able to articulate. She, says “like” after every other sentence like an uncouth 15 year old.
I can’t take grown people very seriously who do that.
My brother, I tried to email this but it came back. Your nomination of blackinbusiness as best business blog means more to me than you could imagine. You are the real deal, profound and caring, I look up to you and your credentials!
Tyra has several projects, modeling, her own talk show, and the next model show. I like her but she needs to ditch the white boy. I lost all respect for Halle Berry with all the black talk and she got her a poor ass white boy. At least get a rich one!
I never really liked her show. I mean it is ‘entertaining’ to an extent. She can be annoying at times, but I do give her credit, she is doing something positive….
Wow, JD that’s really nice. I don’t know what’s up with my email, but I’ll try to send you one later.
Congradulations on your nomination as well
I voted for you.
I love your run down of Tyra. On point! Exactly what I’ve been thinking about her but just haven’t articulated. This interview will be comical at best. Tyra is a great business woman and model, but her show just doesn’t do anything for me AT ALL.
Comical is the word Stacie. Her show is not terrible, but she just doesn’t do it for me either.
