Sudan accepts peacekeepers

“We announce our acceptance of the resolution,” Foreign Minister Lam Akol told journalists the day after the council unanimously approved the 26,000-strong force.”…
Besides requiring acceptance of the deployment, the resolution urges Khartoum and rebel groups to commit themselves to a permanent ceasefire and to join peace talks under AU-UN mediation. – That would be the African Union and United Nations.
There’s to be a joint AU-UN peace keeping force, the particulars of how that will be comprised or when deployment will be have apparently not been worked out yet. There are currently 7,000 AU troops already in Darfur.

Resolution 1769 gives UNAMID “full authority under Chapter 7 to use force to prevent armed attacks, to protect civilians, and to prevent any disruption of the implementation of the Darfur Peace Agreement,”
Also HR 180 Passed in the House to spur on U.S. divestment from Sudan; applying political pressure on the government of Sudan. Keep calling your Senators, they haven’t voted on it yet.

I agree. Are you Black yourself?
Yes, I’m black.
Yes, I’m black just can’t believe there is so much hatred in this world. Just can’t understand why we hate each other cause the color of a person skin. If peel off the skin on our body we all be the same.
I’m sorry for these people who feel this way their hearts must be cold as ice. For I was raise to judge for what’s inside of a person. It’s hard just to live each day. What we need to battle is how to save life there is so many illness in the world and people is dieing. And our soldiers who is fighting in Iraq who is beening killing some are still babies, this is what we should be fight for. Some of our children have not even live their life yet. And here after all these years we still beating, killing , and hanging a person cause the color of their skin. I lived with a white man for 11yrs. I loved him and he loved me, not once our skin color matter.May God bless you all, and help you to see what really do matter.
I completely agree. I am mixed (my father is black and my mother white)and it just doesn’t make sense to me that without knowing a person, judgement is passed and hatred takes over simply because of a color. It’s ridiculous. Society thinks progress has been made? True we’ve come a way, but what I think has been achieved is putting on a blindfold to today’s racial issues.
I’ve been following this case for awile. Keep up the good work! We have to be responsible for our news because it’s not going to make it on at 11.
No doubt, that’s why I do what I do.
[...] Jena 6. It was planned back in July as follow up to the previous march to the DA’s office (peep my post about it on Aug 2nd), which most people don’t even know about. Color of Change was one of the initiators [...]
