Discussing the Diaspora as seen through an internal Black lens

To try and justify the New Yorker’s Obama smear cover, in some sort of publishers solidarity; and I’m sure to get in on some controversy generated attention; Vanity Fair has come up with a McCain counter-cover as to pretend that “see, we’re doing it to McCain too”.
But this McCain cover doesn’t nearly do what the Obama smear cover does. It merely and poorly mimics it.

The Obama Cover gives images to the most insidious and dangers smears about Obama. Here’s a comparison of the two covers:
1. The Obama cover pictures Obama in Muslim garb, suggesting he’s an undercover Muslim, maturing candidate. The McCain cover shows McCain with a walker. But McCain really is old; Obama is not really a muslim. Further, it wasn’t a group of old people that killed 3,000 on 9/11, it was a group of Muslims. So the damage of the two depictions aren’t not only not in the same ball park; they’re not even on the same planet.
2. It shows John McCain and wife Cindy doing a fist bump, as the Obama cover showed he and wife Michelle doing. But the McCains didn’t do a fist bump in real life that was then characterized as a “terrorist fist bump” as where the Obamas. So again, the denigrating impact of voice to the smear only smears the Obamas, not the McCains.
3. Cindy is pictured with a handful of drugs on the McCain Cover. Michelle is picture in combat gear, with a rifle and a big afro to suggest armed black radical. The thing is again, just like in number 1; Cindy ACTUALLY really did steal drugs from charity she worked for; Michelle was not really an armed Black radical at anytime. One is a reality one is a made up smear.
I can keep going on and on like this, but why bother?
Gaywired.com reports that:
The post on the Vanity Fair web site accompanying the parody cover cartoon says the McCain cover was created “in a selfless act of solidarity” with rival New Yorker magazine.
In a tongue-in-cheek tone, Vanity Fair proclaims they have always had “a kind of affectionate rivalry with our downstairs neighbors at The New Yorker” and has been “watching the kerfuffle over last week’s New Yorker cover with a mixture of empathy and better-you-than-us relief.”
Acknowledging their own past controversy-provoking coverage, including the recent media furor over near-nude photos of teenage Disney star Miley Cyrus, Vanity Fair said “heaven knows we’ve published our share of scandalous images, on the cover and otherwise.”
So basically Vanity Fair just wants to turn it’s nose up at deceant public discourse and publishing. They want to make sure its know, that not only do they publish soft kiddie porn and are proud of it; that they support political fire-bombing as well.
And people in the mainstream traditional media have the nerve to talk about how out of line bloggers are. This is what the paid and trained professionals do.
