Video of Barack Obamas Nomination Acceptance Speech

August 29th, 2008

I don’t have the video yet, but will soon - as soon as it is avaliable. In the mean while, hear is the audio. We now have it below.

The video will be place in this same post:

Notable quotes: “Yes we must provide more ladders for success for young men who fall into lives of crime and despair; but we must also admit that programs alone can’t replace parents, that government can’t turn off the television and a make a child do homework; that farhters must take more responsibility to provide love and guidance to their children”.

“Ya know, John McCain says he’ll follow Bin Laden to the gates of hell; but he won’t even follow him to the cave where he lives.”

“Even the Bush administration, even after we learned that Iraq has 79 billion dollars in surplus; while we are walling in deficit, John McCain stand alone in his stubborn refusal to end a misguided war. That’s not the judgement we need; that won’t keep America safe.”

“…if you don’t have any fresh ideals, then you use stale tactics to scare voters…you make a big election about small things”.

“What the naysayers don’t understand is that this election has never been about me, it has been about you…Change doesn’t come from Washington, Change comes to Washington.”

I think this speech covered it, answering questions about exactly what and why, and doing it quite well. Someone somewhere had to be saying “oh fuck johnny were gonna loose, he’s not just one of the greatest orators on the planet he actually does have a plan”.

C-Span is a blessing though I don’t have to bother with the commentary.

Yes, C-Span is great in that way.

And I agree that he really covered all the points quite well. I’m glad he didn’t go heavy on the poetry and went right at the issues and the McCain talking points.

Though it would have been nice for him to end with some poetry :P

Great that you have the full video of Obama’s acceptance speech here Yobachi. I cried during the entire speech at Invensco. Rosie Greer was sitting behind me and I saw tears rolling down his cheeks too.

I was not only moved by the history of the moment, the synergy of the moment, but also but the vadt array of different people in the stadium all transfixed on Obama and completely committed to putting him in the White House.
